Mortars - De Hoef Rosmalen

De Hoef Rosmalen: Sustainable and Green Living on Historic Ground

In the heart of Rosmalen (North Brabant), a well-known location underwent an impressive transformation. Where the football fields of OJC Rosmalen once stood, ‘De Hoef’ can now be found: a modern, park-like residential area where sustainability and quality of life take center stage.

Cantillana is proud to contribute as a partner to this large-scale new-build project, where high-quality silo mortars are used to ensure efficiency and quality on the construction site.

The Project: Energy Efficiency in a Green Oasis

Project De Hoef includes the realization of 88 homes, divided into 62 rental and owner-occupied apartments and 26 ground-level houses. The design by Architectenbureau Visser en Bouwman is fully focused on a healthy living environment:

  • BENG homes: All buildings are Nearly Energy Neutral (BENG), equipped with heat pumps and solar panels.
  • Green roofs: The planted roofs not only create an attractive appearance, but also provide excellent insulation and low energy bills.
  • Low-traffic design: By cleverly keeping cars out of sight, the focus remains entirely on the park-like surroundings and the generous outdoor spaces such as roof terraces and loggias.

Our Contribution: Tailor-Made Mortars

For a project of this scale, continuity on site is essential. Cantillana supports contractor Van Santvoort Bouw B.V. by delivering all products directly in silos.

1. Foundation and Structure

For the precise laying of the first masonry course, Cantillana supplied Kimmortel SP M 20. This mortar meets the strictest standards (M 20 according to EN 998-2) and provides the ideal base for the rest of the construction. For the screeds in the apartments, the Zand/Cement D20 mix was selected.

2. Aesthetic Brick Facades (Flush Pointing Technique)

The facades define the character of De Hoef. The high-quality bricks from manufacturer Nelissen were selected and applied using the flush pointing technique for a sleek and durable result.

  • The Houses: Built with the orange-red ‘Rosina’ brick. The Doorstrijkmortel DSM 104 M10 in the color 3800 Basalt Grey was used here.
  • The Apartments: The red-brown ‘Bravo’ brick adorns these facades. It was applied with DSM 104 M10 in the color 3025 Anthracite.

Technical specification: The DSM 104 M10 flush pointing masonry mortar complies with EN 998-2 and is specifically suitable for normally absorbent bricks (IW 3). The mortar is also KOMO-certified, offering the highest quality assurance for this prestigious project.

Efficiency Through Silo Logistics

To optimize productivity during the various stages of construction, Cantillana works with an advanced silo system. This minimizes waste, guarantees consistent mixing quality, and ensures that the professionals at Van Santvoort Bouw always have the right materials available without logistical delays.

Project De Hoef proves that aesthetics, sustainability, and an efficient construction method go hand in hand.
