Installation of a natural stone terrace with Chape Drain, Cera’fix Supraflex and Egalfix Plus
The terrace and walkway around the swimming pool of a detached house in Varsenare were installed by Wim Verkinderen. For this project, covering a tiled surface area of 100 m², a water-permeable construction was chosen to guarantee perfect water drainage into the ground rather than into the sewer system.
The presence of water in the ground and the proximity of the swimming pool led Wim to choose a multi-layer drainage system.
A coarse crushed stone layer was placed on the existing soil, with a draining concrete layer laid at a slope of approximately 2% to guarantee the stability of the terrace. Next, a Schlüter drainage mat was also installed at a slope, topped with a draining screed, Chape Drain 15, for lightly loaded applications such as pedestrian traffic. Natural stone tiles from Stone were then bonded on top using Cera’fix Supraflex white tile adhesive - type C2TE S1. As a finishing touch around the pool, natural stone coping stones were installed using Egalfix Plus white laying and leveling mortar.
Chape Drain 15 was delivered in a silo. Thanks to the use of a silo, a consistent mixing quality is always guaranteed, allowing the product to be used to its full potential.
The water-permeable construction ensures that the residents of the house now have the guarantee of a durable terrace without water stagnation, contributing to the preservation of the water table.
