Expansion of UZ Ghent with a New Facility
For the construction of a new 4-storey facility, led by contractor Antwerpse Bouwwerken NV, part of Eiffage Benelux, Cantillana was selected as partner for the supply of a shrinkage-compensated bedding mortar, Betofill 50/4 with a grain size of 0 to 4 mm.
The new facility was built at a rapid pace through the use of prefabricated concrete elements. Work was carried out floor by floor, with prefabricated concrete walls being placed on the concrete floor slab using Betofill 50/4 as a setting mortar.
Betofill 50/4 is a low-shrink bedding mortar with a 0/4 granulometry and achieves a guaranteed compressive strength of 50 N/mm² after 7 days. If a higher compressive strength is required, Cantillana recommends Betofill 70 as a possible solution.
To ensure continuous product supply for each floor, the mini-silo was chosen in combination with big bags. It is a practical and efficient solution in which the product is mixed with a constant water dosage and is ready for use. In addition, the mini-silo can easily be moved to any floor using the tower crane on site.
